Southeastern New England Marine Educators
2019 National Marine Educators Association Conference
The Gulf of Maine Marine Education Association (GOMMEA) is proud to host the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA) Annual Conference, July 21-25, 2019 at the University of New Hampshire campus in Durham, NH. This year’s theme is “Turning the Tide: Learning from Yesterday, Adapting for Tomorrow."
Our mission is to make known the world of water both fresh and salt, and our annual conference brings together formal and informal marine educators from around the world to promote awareness and education of the global marine environment.
The conference brings 300-500 professionals from K-12 schools, marine centers, non-profit NGOs, and government agencies together for four days of learning, sharing, and networking. During the day, participants will attend a full program highlighting the latest trends and research in marine education. In the evening, everyone has an opportunity to explore Portsmouth, NH (Monday), and Rye, NH, (Wednesday); Tuesday is our annual dinner and auction. To complete the conference experience registrants can explore the beauty of New Hampshire and Maine on one of our field trips on Thursday.
GOMMEA is currently soliciting proposals for workshops. Most sessions are 50-minutes long. Proposals can be for presentations on research, marine history, resources, or lessons and activities for formal and informal education.
More information on registration and session proposals can be found at http://gommea.org/nmea2019. Registration opens January 2019.
