Southeastern New England Marine Educators

A Regional Chapter of National Marine Educators Association

Founded in 1983, Southeastern New England Marine Educators (SENEME) is a professional association of individuals and organizations devoted to the cause of marine education in Connecticut and Rhode Island. SENEME is a regional chapter of the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA), an organization that brings together those interested in the study and enjoyment of the world of water, both fresh and salt.

SENEME publishes The Nauplius, a newsletter featuring bulletins about national, state and regional conferences and workshops, as well as teaching aids and classroom resource lists. We also offer workshops, an annual conference, and field trips to diverse marine ecosystems throughout our region.

SENEME is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Help SENEME celebrate 40 years at our upcoming conference! Engage with educators and professionals in the marine science field with informative speaker sessions, networking opportunities, a silent auction, and a field trip to the Connecticut National Estuarine Research Reserve. The event features Patrick J. Lynch, an author, artist, and photographer speaking on “A Tale of Two Estuaries”, along with Dr. James Carlton providing a special presentation on his work with Williams College’s Coastal and Ocean Studies Program at the Mystic Seaport.
